Tashkent Onion & Garlic Bread

Tashkent, which means “stone castle or village,” is the largest city in central Asia and was an important caravan town on the Silk Road for hundreds of years. The aroma of its famous, fragrant bread followed me wherever I went in the bazaar. Traditionally, the dough is slapped onto the side wall of a cylindrical clay oven or tandoor.
