  • About

This tea is traditionally served in parts of Iran by the bride-to-be to the groom’s family after the bride and her family have accepted a marriage proposal: The serving of the tea is a subtle way of saying yes, no doubt because the tea is thought to have aphrodisiac qualities.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups water
  • 2 whole cardamom pods, bruised
  • ½ teaspoon sa

Method

  1. Bring the water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Add the cardamom, saffron, rose water and sugar. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 15 minutes.
  2. Before serving, pour a glassful of tea and return it to the saucepan to make sure the tea is evenly mixed.
  3. Serve in a tea glass. Add sugar to taste.
