You can’t beat a proper trifle! There are so many bad versions that it has lost its appeal. But this one puts it back on the map.

Ingredients

  • 400 g strawberries, topped and sliced

Method

  1. Place a sieve on top of a bowl and leave to one side. To make the custard, pour 400 ml of milk and the vanilla extract into a pan and bring to the boil. In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar, cornflour and the remainder of the milk. Pour the boiling milk over the cornflour mix and whisk together.
