If you can’t find a fruit loaf, this bread and butter pudding is also great with sliced croissants, hot cross buns or a crusty white loaf.


  • 600 g (1 lb 5 oz) thickly sliced fruit loaf, with the crust on


Spread half the fruit loaf slices with the butter, then spread the remaining slices with the marmalade. Sandwich together and cut in half on the diagonal.

Grease the slow cooker and arrange the bread slices inside it on a slight angle, covering the base.
