Slaw is what you assign the least talented or downright bad cook to bring to the potluck. It requires little to no skill, and these days it even comes in little premade kits that are foolproof. That said, I respect a great coleslaw, and I expect any decent Southern cook to have a recipe in their back pocket. I like mine two ways—vinegar based, with a little sweet tang, and Southern style, heavy on the celery seed. When done well, slaw can provide an excellent accompaniment to many mains. It
