Forget that brazenly hyper-sweet, hyper-red frozen stuff that comes from a machine and gets tarted up with canned whipped cream. Let’s be more refined, shall we? When strawberries are plentiful and succulent, fresh is always best. This easy-to-make, pretty-in-pink recipe proves it.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh strawberries (16 to 18 berries)
  • 1 cup light rum</

Method

Remove the hulls from the strawberries and add the berries to a blender. Pour in the rum, powdered sugar, and lime juice. Fill the container with the ice (about 2 cups; crushed ice is easier on your blender blades).

Process the mixture until well combined, adding more ice if desired.
