They make martinis out of everything else; why not out of the lauded mint julep? A hint of vanilla makes this one unique. We like to serve this in pale red martini glasses at fall holiday parties, but on other occasions we opt for a more decorative glass. Its clear color belies its boldness.
Add the mint leaves and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker; muddle the mint to release flavor. Add the vodka and ice; shake until well combined. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Add the garnish.
