You need an appointment with certain fishermen in Sicily to go fishing at night with a lampara - a huge light positioned on the bow of the boat in order to scrutinize the shallows. I was taken out in a small boat by two fishermen armed with harpoons. The sea should have been as smooth as oil but instead it was very rough, and all we managed to catch was an octopus and a scorpion fish.
