While filming the television series that accompanies this book, we visited the church of San Lorenzo in Sogliano Cavour. Lorenzo died a martyr on the grill. His saint’s day is still celebrated and, as part of the festivities, I cooked fresh sausages for ten local people called Lorenzo.
