My grandmother from Navarra, which is noted for its canned and bottled vegetables, maintained that glass jars were by far the best for preserves and in her larder she always stored lots of bottles which she would use several times a year for preserving peppers and tomatoes. She used these peppers all year round in rice dishes, cold potato and mayonnaise salads, and all sorts of dishes that call for the morrón, or small canned red pepper.
