Separating tiers with pillars is a traditional way to add dramatic height and grandeur to a cake and the space created between the tiers can be dressed with fresh, sugar or silk flowers. Pillars are available in many heights, colours and finishes - dowels placed inside the pillars carry all the weight of the tiers. With very large or heavy tiers, increase the number of pillars - the grid supplied has markings for 3, 4, 6 or 8 pillars on each tier.
