Hand-Painted Orchid

Painting onto a cake indulges two of my passions in one! I find it very satisfying both to paint and to create a truly individual decorated cake. I took the inspiration for this orchid cake from a wall-hanging that I have at home. The design is traced and etched onto the cake with layers of edible colour dusts suspended in cocoa butter - a bit like painting in oils.
