Individual building-block cakes are a lovely idea for a child’s christening or first birthday. I have made this cake in shades of blue and pink with a model of a teddy bear and his train on the top - change the colour of the sugar paste on the cakes or mould another sugar toy on the top to personalize the design. The little building blocks are made from coloured sugar paste and are presented on a purpose-built stand, adding height and drama to the cake.
