There’s a whole lot you can do with a bowl of pasta carbonara. Peas are a great fit (they’re legumes too!), and you can shake some out of the bag straight from the freezer into the pasta water for the last few minutes of cooking time, then drain it all together. Easy peasy. (Pun totally intended.) If you’re not a pea person, cooked small white beans are fine, too. If you don’t want onions, try sautéed mushrooms.
