Ha—we couldn’t put a bean book together without including a big ol’ pot of baked beans, now could we? Here it is. Thick and sweet and tangy and everything we think baked beans should be, plus the beer. (Feel free to swap apple juice or stock if there’s no beer in the refrigerator, or if other members of the household protest its use this way.) A slow cooker is ideal for this—there really is no better potpourri.
