A thin roll with a strip of tuna in the center is called tekka-maki. Tekka(-ba) means gambling place, so this is food for gamblers who only have time to grab a bite-sized tekka-maki. If this story sounds familiar, remember the card-playing Lord Sandwich, for whom, it is said, the sandwich was invented because he couldn’t stop playing.
