Also known as anise candy, these little, hard twists have a wonderful depth of flavour. They can be made with anise extract for a smooth consistency, or you can use fresh aniseed, which is a great alternative – the tiny, flavourful seeds give a nice contrast to the sweetness. If you can get your hands on the lovely twisted moulds traditionally used to shape these confections, use them. If not, follow the directions below.
