With its light, flaky crust and luscious, intensely flavoured filling that teams creamy toasted pecans with whisky, orange zest and cinnamon, this pie is reason alone to grow your own pecans. Serve with whipped cream and a smile.

To make the pastry, sieve together the flour, salt and baking powder in a bowl. Add the butter and cream cheese and rub it into the flour with your fingertips until it resembles coarse crumbs, with a few pea-size pieces of butter and cream cheese remaining in the flour.
