Gingerbread Soldiers in Sentry Boxes

This is my take on a traditional gingerbread house. I was inspired by A. A. Milne’s poem about Buckingham Palace and the reference to a sentry box. As the recipe takes some time to make, it is a wonderful project for a rainy afternoon, and with a little help, children can be very creative constructing the sentry box and decorating the soldiers. The gingerbread is delightfully crisp and gingery. It is important not to roll the dough too thickly, as the pieces will be too hea
