  • About

Hungary provides perfect growing conditions for plums, known as szilvás, and the country is one of the world’s major producers. Unsurprisingly, therefore, Hungarians love plums, and when in season they preserve them or dry them for the winter months. This is a traditional, simple winter dessert using prunes.

Ingredients

  • 24 plump ready-to-eat prunes, pitted
  • juice of 1 orange
  • 5 ml/

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 160°C/325°F/Gas 3. Put the prunes in a pan with the orange juice and 200ml/7fl oz/scant 1 cup water, and simmer for 5 minutes over medium heat.
