Plov is basically a rice pilaf that originated in Uzbekistan. It is a dish that is popular in Ukraine and has become part of Ukrainian food culture. It is made with any kind of meat or none at all, as well as with onions, carrots, and rice—which constitutes the very heart of the dish.
