This is a Ukrainian favorite. It can be made with almost any kind of fish fillets or steaks. The sour cream helps to keep the fish nice and moist. Serve with potatoes and a cooked green vegetable or salad and plenty of crusty bread.


  • 3 pounds pike fillets
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon


Preheat the oven to 400°F. Sprinkle the pike fillets with salt and black pepper and place in a large, shallow baking dish in a single layer. Let stand while preparing the vegetables.

Melt the butter in a medium skillet over medium heat and add the onion. Sauté for about 1 minut
