I love varenyky stuffed with sweetened ground poppy seeds and I only serve them on special occasions. My version is laced with orange blossom honey and mace. To serve, drizzle with a little more orange blossom honey, a scattering of fresh orange zest, and a dusting of confectioners’ sugar.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups poppy seeds
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon

Method

Bring 3 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Stir in the poppy seeds and then remove the pan from the stove. Let the mixture sit for about 20 minutes.
