This traditional dish made from dried fruits is served on Christmas Eve and also at feasts honoring the deceased. Dried fruit compote is also a favorite wintertime dessert. Feel free to add a few tablespoons of brandy, cognac, or rye whiskey, especially in the winter months. It is just delicious served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a generous dollop of whipped cream.
