This zavyvanets recipe features ground hazelnuts which are used extensively in baking throughout Ukraine and rate very high in preference. I usually braid the dough, but feel free to manipulate the dough whichever way you see fit.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup plus 2 tablespoons

Method

Cream the butter and ½ cup sugar together in a medium bowl until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Add 1 cup crushed hazelnuts and the brandy and mix well.
