The cultivation, use, and consumption of hemp dates back hundreds of years in Ukraine. Hemp seeds were eaten raw, sprouted, made into tea, and ground into meal and used in baking. Hemp seed oil is mentioned again and again in ancient recipes. Hemp milk was made by grinding roasted hemp seeds into a fine powder and mixing with boiling water. It was drunk in times of fasting or when there was a shortage of regular milk. I definitely think hemp seed milk is an acquired taste though.
