Ingredients

  • 4 cups flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • cups buttermilk

Method

Sift the dry ingredients, add the rest and mix well. Place in well buttered pan and bake in a moderate oven 35 minutes.
