  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 egg
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder


Mix and sift the dry ingredients, work in shortening with tips of fingers, or cut in with knives; add milk with the well beaten egg, gradually mixing with a knife. Dough must be soft enough to spread in a shallow baking pan. Have ready, pared, cored and cut in quarters, the apples and when dough has been spread in pan, press apples into dough in parallel rows.
