Ingredients

  • 1 can or quart of tomatoes
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 pint of water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cloves
  • teaspoon soda
  • 1 slice of onion
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons flour

Method

Cook the first six ingredients twenty minutes; strain, reheat, add the soda, melt the butter, add the flour, and gradually the hot strained tomatoes.
