  • 3 lbs. brisket of beef
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 lemon (juice)
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Small piece bay leaf


Place the meat in a stew pan. Add the onion sliced thin and also the boiling water. Stew meat until tender—adding salt, pepper and a bit of bay leaf for seasoning. Add lemon juice and sugar until sweet and sour.
