Ingredients

  • 12 large mushrooms
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Toast

Method

Wash fine, large mushrooms, remove stems and place caps in a buttered broiler and broil 5 minutes, cap side down, during first half of broiling. Put a small piece of butter in each cap, sprinkle with salt and pepper and serve as soon as butter is melted. Keep mushrooms cap side up, to keep in the juices and serve on rounds of buttered dry toast.
