Peel onion under water. Put in sauce pan with boiling, salted water, 1 teaspoon salt to 1 qt. water. Boil 5 minutes drain and again cover with boiling, salted water. Cook one hour or until soft. Drain, add a little milk, butter, salt and pepper to taste or cover with White Sauce.
