  • Egg Barley or Pfarvel
  • ½ pk. green peas or 1 can
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 cup rice
  • ¼ cup butter or other fat
  • 1 qt. boiling water
  • ½ teaspoon salt


Make Pfarvel. Heat the butter, add the pfarvel and when a golden brown, add the boiling water and other ingredients and the peas strained. Set in moderate oven and bake ½ hour, or until every kernel stands out separately. Serve hot.
