Lay bread in a pudding dish. Pour over each slice boiling hot stewed fruit made very sweet.

Care should be taken to have more syrup than the bread can absorb or the pudding will seem dry. Cherries or berries are the most suitable, but peaches or other high-flavored fruit can be used. Serve ice cold with cream either plain or whipped.
