  • 1 oz. bitter chocolate
  • ¾ cup stale bread crumbs
  • 2 cups scalded milk
  • cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla


Soak bread in cups milk ½ hour; melt chocolate over hot water, add sugar and the remaining ¼ cup milk to make smooth Paste. Add to bread with salt, vanilla and egg, slightly beaten. Place in well buttered pudding dish and bake ½ hour until set. Serve with cream or Creamy Sauce.
