  • 1 cup rice
  • 4 cups boiling water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 egg (well beaten)


Steam the rice in the boiling, salted water until tender, and while hot add the rest of the ingredients. Cook 5 minutes and bake twenty minutes in a buttered baking dish, with bread crumbs at the top and bottom. If desired, fruit may be added in layers to the rice.
