  • ½ loaf stale bread, grated
  • ½ lb. suet, chopped fine
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 or 3 tablespoons flour
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder


Roll mixture in a ball and place on plate in kettle. Take 1 lb. dried pears which have been soaked over night, then boil with sugar, cinnamon until tender. Put pears around pudding, and boil 3 hours, covered. Serve hot.
