  • About

  • ½ cup sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 pint flour
  • 1 pint milk
  • 1 cup butter (scant)
  • 1 quart apples, sliced

Mix sugar, salt and flour and gradually add the milk to make a smooth batter.

Melt 1 cup or a little less of butter in a large shallow dripping pan and let it spread all over the pan to grease it well, then pour the remaining butter and the apples to the batter. Mix and pour into pan or pans not more than ¾ inch deep and bake in a moderate oven 30 to 45 minutes until a golden brown.
