  • 4 matzos
  • 4 eggs
  • Whites, beaten
  • ½ cup matzos meal
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup walnut or almond meats pounded


Soak matzos in water. Drain and press quite dry. Mix smooth with sugar, yolks, etc., adding the beaten whites last. Drop by spoonsful in deep, hot goose or any other preferred fat, and fry, not too fast until brown on both sides. Serve warm surrounded with stewed prunes.
