  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • ½ teaspoon soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup molasses
  • 1 cup stoned and chopped raisins or dates
  • Or 1 cup ripe berries


Mix ingredients in order given. Steam 2½ hours and serve with whipped cream or any plain pudding sauce.

One cup of figs, stewed prunes or chopped apple or raisins makes a pleating variety.
