Pour the hot milk over the coffee, add 1 cup sugar. Mix the eggs slightly beaten with the remaining sugar; combine the two mixtures and cook over hot water until thickened, add 1 cup of cream, let stand where it will keep hot ½ hour. Cool, add remaining cream then strain through double cheese cloth. Ada vanilla to taste and freeze. Garnish with maraschino cherries. More eggs may be added, if desired, or they may be omitted entirely.
