  • 1 pint milk
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch or flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 quart cream


Mix flour, sugar, salt, and the milk gradually. Cook over hot water twenty minutes, stirring well; take from stove, add the well-beaten egg gradually. Cool. Add cream and flavoring. Strain and freeze. If cream cannot be obtained, more eggs and flour should be used.
