Ingredients

  • 3 lbs. meat, chopped
  • lb, beef suet, chopped
  • 6 lbs. apples, chopped
  • 3 lbs. raisins, seeded
  • 2 lbs. currants
  • 1 lb. citron, chopped fine
  • ½ each of lemon and orange peel
  • 1 oz. cinnamon, ground
  • ½ oz. cloves
  • 1 nutmeg, grated
  • 3 lbs. brown sugar
  • 1 qt. boiled cider
  • 1 qt. molasses
  • Salt to taste

Method

Cook all together 2 hours and seal in glass cans.

Mince pies should always be baked with two crusts. Usually made between Thanksgiving and New Year.
