  • 3 squares (3 oz.) chocolate
  • 3 tablespoons sugar</


Cook all together, stirring constantly until smooth and thick, then put it away to cool; for remainder of cake as follows:

Cream butter and sugar, adding a little of the milk, then the beaten yolks; remainder of the milk and flour sifted with the baking powder; then the cooked chocolate mixture, and flavoring. Lastly cut and fold in whites of the eggs which have been beaten very stiff.
