  • About

  • 6 yolks
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon anise seed
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 6 whites of eggs

Beat yolks until thick and lemon colored, add sugar gradually and continue beating; add flour, baking powder, anise pounded and sifted and cut and fold in the six whites of eggs' beaten to stiff froth. Bake in flat pan, one that is high on the sides, so the cake can raise in a slow oven, about 1 hour. When baked light brown, remove from pan and keep in a dry, cool place until the next day, then slice the cake and brown or toast it on both sides. Dust with powdered sugar. This is very nice for invalids.
