Ingredients

  • ½ cup bread crumbs
  • cups powdered sugar
  • ½ cup bread crumbs
  • 1 lemon, grated rind
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • ½ lb. grated filberts or hazelnuts
  • 8 whites of eggs, beaten stiff

Method

Beat yolks and sugar until very light, add bread crumbs and the rest of the ingredients in order, the beaten whites last. Bake in a slow oven 40 to 45 minutes, in a spring form. Frost with Nut Frosting. Decorate with nuts.

Or bake in two layers, with fresh strawberries, or sweetened whipped cream, between and on top of cake.
