  • 1 pk. of string beans cooked until tender
  • 1 quart vinegar
  • 1 quart water
  • 1 lb. sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cloves
  • 1 stick cinnamon (broken)


Wash and pick over the beans, string and cut. Boil in salt water (one teaspoon to one quart of boiling water), until tender. Drain and spread out to dry; then pack into air-tight cans. Boil until a nice syrup is obtained. Let cool, then pour in cans and seal.
