  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • teaspoon nutmeg, grated
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seed


Brown the butter in a spider, add the flour, let cook, but not burn, until well browned, then add seasoning, and gradually the boiling water. Cook a few moments longer and serve hot. Good to reduce a laxative condition.
