Cut the abura-age in half lengthways, then into 1 cm (½ in) strips. Remove the stalks from the mushrooms, then cut the caps into 5 mm (¼ in) slices. Bring the dashi to the boil, then add the abura-age and mushrooms and cook on a medium heat for 2 minutes. Stir the miso into the soup. Remove from the heat and serve.
