Method

Place all the ingredients in a bowl. Whisk well with chopsticks to create a frothy texture. Serve in a small bowl accompanied by rice. To eat, pour the natto mixture over the rice. It has a very distinctive texture (slimy) and smell, but this is the must-have dish in the traditional Japanese breakfast.
